Whiriwhiria kia eke panuku!
Welcome to Week 3 of Term 2. It is great to see the effort that the children are putting into their learning - we are going to have some great future debaters. Hopefully you got to see our awesome assembly item. We say goodbye to Kai next week, as he makes a big shift, and wish him all the best in his next chapter of his life story.
DEAR
Thanks for helping your child have a chapter book in their bag to read. This could also be non-fiction (if that is what they enjoy reading).
WACKY HAIR DAY
As part of Bullying Free Week, we will be holding a 'Wacky Hair Day' on Wednesday. There will be no cost, however we ask that children think of something kind that they could do for someone on that day.
INQUIRY
This term, we are looking at what are the best conditions for native plants to grow at Silverstream, and how we can produce native seedlings to thrive in this environment. We have already started with pH testing of different liquids, before we move onto soil.
TEACHER ONLY DAY
Below is an excerpt from the newsletter that was sent out last week:
In addition to these events, our Community of Learning (Kahui ako) will meet
at a teacher only day on Friday 31 May. This will involve 9 Kaiapoi schools and provide
teachers with professional development alongside those from neighbouring schools. We
hope this will offer families the opportunity for an extra long weekend when combined with
the Queen’s Birthday holiday on Monday 3 June.
